The uniform and flag of the unit are unknown. Many of the units on both sides at Derry were probably dressed in civilian clothes, so I've used a unit with a bit of a motley appearance. The flags are plain, the sort militia might carry, however...

This is a really useful unit for any Ireland collection because they fought in most of the major battles, including Aughrim. Plus the flags are really cool - something beyond the normal crosses! They will be equipped with a pike stand as well, but I'm going to paint those for all four foot...

Clarence Harrison - I took a break from painting rank and file to complete an officer that's been half finished on my desk for weeks.


This will be Lieutenant General Richard Hamilton for my Jacobite Boyne army, but will also serve as a brigade commander (not sure which one yet) for our Historicon project, the Battle of Penny Burn Mill.

Clarence Harrison - I started a regiment for Beneath the Lily Banners for our Historicon 2016 game: Sir Maurice Eustace's regiment of foot from the army of King James II.


For the Battle of Penny Burn Mill, the regiment will be 18 models plus a pike stand.

Of course, the unit is NOT in my plan for the Battle of the Boyne, but I always planned to collect beyond the handful of battalions I needed for...

Clarence Harrison - As mentioned a few weeks ago, Barry and I are going to attend Historicon 2016 and put on a small Beneath the Lily Banners game, probably at least once a day during the event. The game will be based on the battle around Penny Burn Mill outside the wall of Derry, April 21st, 1689.

Vacation time has been scheduled, travel options are being considered, and plans are underway for a participation game of Beneath the Lily Banners that we will run at least once a day (and maybe twice depending on what else we get up to).
