The League of Augsburg
By way of a thank you - Any 10 from the list
For Post #1,001
I thought it would be nice to give our visitors an opportunity to pick up a little bargain if they are so inclined. The pdf uniform and scenario packs have proved to be very popular. The fact the the range continues to expand is testimony to that.
We now have 27 Uniform guides and 25 4Playpacks excluding the 2 FREE packs. The prices vary on these between £2 and £6 with most being in...
Mad for War 4Play releases
Assurance versus Constant Reformation 1649 |
I am very pleased to announce the release of the first 4Play scenario packs specifically designed for Mad for War. There are 16 packs which will be released over the next few weeks but the first batch of four is a nice cross section of some of the different conflicts of the late 17th century which will be covered by the series.

It's St Patrick's Day so...
We can't let today pass without featuring some Irish action from the Nine Years War on the blog. So I thought the best way to pay tribute to the theatre and the fighting men which has given me the most stimulation to understand the period in the last thirty years was to simply create a photo montage of action and inspiration in Ireland from the League of Augsburg..
Happy St Patrick's day to...

Action between Clan Chattan and Keppoch Macdonalds - from Crann Tara |
I have been working on new 4Play scenarios including a dozen naval packs to support Mad for War. Here is a peek at what in coming up.
CRANN TARA - Clan warfare between 1660 and 1690.
This one fascinated me after Dave sent me some information on little known clan actions which took place during my core period of interest. This pack...
The bonnets o' Bonnie Dundee!
The Bonnets o' Bonnie Dundee! |
The Battle of Killiecrankie, July 27th 1689 is of enduring interest to me. It has all of the romanticism of a Hollywood mini series. A hero, who was long seen as a traitor and villain by his co-religionists and had both the sobriquet of Bluddy Clavers and Bonnie Dundee. A fractious army held together by the strength of his personality and that of other giant human...
Mad for War Essentials - play without painting a single ship!
I have been blogging less frequently these past days because.... Clarence and I have been rushing to get Mad for War Essentials ready for release later this week.
What is Mad for War Essentials ? The core rules to get gamers started with the new system. It contains everything you need except the tape measure, dice and table to get Mad for War launched and find your sea legs. Eh, everything...

Hilton's revenge! New Pirate flags!
I am sure you have heard of Blackbeard's ship, Queen Anne's Revenge. When we started with Donnybrook a few years back Mr. Harrison, of this parish, got me all fired up to the extent that I painted and based the thick end of 200 miniatures which feature liberally in Donnybrook. He, on the other hand, painted... none!
Old score's are best settled cold. So this is Hilton's Revenge! I have worked on...
Full Mad for War teaser video uploaded
Launching LoA on YouTube
I have started my long promised commitment to video content. I made a short introductory video to Mad for War which I have uploaded to YouTube on a League of Augsburg channel. My hope is that both Clarence and I will use this channel to support Donnybrook, Beneath the Lily Banners, Republic to Empire, Victory without quarter and Mad for War.
I have a few instructional videos to upload over the...
Sharks, blast furnaces and me
Apparently sharks die if they stop swimming. I don't know if that is true but it is an interesting thought. As a trained metallurgist, I do know that if you let a blast furnace cool down too much, it is 'gubbed'. And then I realized that I need to find the next project or.....
Of course, Clarence and I are well advanced with Mad for War, but the 4Play scenarios combined with the proof of concept...
Latest 4Play scenario releases
I have been working on these behind the scenes to get them ready for release before Christmas. The first is the missing #18. As many blog members are collecting the series, a few of the sharp eyed had noticed that this number was missing from the sequence and had asked about it.
I had partially finished it during the last release but held it over to make a few tweaks. Here it is at last. The first...
